Shangri-La, Cebu

Shangri-La, Cebu

There are hotels that are great classics, The Shangri-La Mactan is one of them. It is amazing that now you are able to fly directly from Dubai to Cebu with Emirates and skip the huge and for many uninteresting Manila. Equally fantastic is to have an hotel like Shangri-La welcome you in one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines.

The hotel is located just 20 minutes from Cebu airport in one of the most beautiful areas of the region, with an area of 13 hectares and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Its interior hides an incredible underwater world, you don’t need to enter into the turquoise blue water to observe the huge amount of colorful fish in the shallow water. More than 160 species live in the sanctuary that the hotel strives to care for. In addition to Snorkeling, the hotel offers lots of water activities, Catamaran, Banana, Jet Ski, Kayak, Paddle.

The gardens of the hotel are fascinating, carefully handled, filled with coconuts, centuries-old trees, exotic flowers, transforming this space into a true tropical oasis for those who want to enjoy a few days in paradise. Hidden in the green of the gardens we find two huge swimming pools, one with 700m2 surrounded by dozens of coconut trees and another of 1500m2 with several sun loungers and children’s area.

The decor of the hotel is classic and exuberant, always with a Filipino touch with maritime details, banana leaf and wicker, giving a luxurious and at the same time relaxing atmosphere. Composed of two large buildings in perfect complicity with nature, the hotel has 530 large rooms (34m2 to 216m2), all with a huge balcony with table and chair for two so that you can enjoy the unobstructed view of the gardens and beach. Equipped with free Internet, Plasma TV with satellite, Mini bar, etc.
The hotel also has 7 restaurants/bar offering various types of cuisine, from international, Chinese, seafood and Italian. At the beach, “The Breeze” offers a menu of snacks and drinks without leaving the beach. The breakfast is without a doubt one of the bests I ever had in luxury hotels, not only in quality but also in diversity.

I had the opportunity to visit the Spa – CHI, which is colossal. The name means in the Chinese philosophy, the universal force responsible for our vitality. The spa gardens occupy 10,000m2, they are the perfect retreat for those who want relax. There are several private villas, all with swimming pool, massage room, spa with wc and open air shower for an intimate contact with nature. CHI combines massages and treatments based on the ancient natural methods of different cultures of Asia, many of them drawn from the Filipino culture and its herbs and plants whose properties are extremely therapeutic. There are dozens of treatments, from body massage, hydrotherapy, meditation … I made the CHI Hot Stones that combines the healing method of thermotherapy with a relaxing massage. I loved it, it was all I needed to recover from so many hours of flights and jetlag.

The hotel also offers several adventure and entertainment areas for the youngest. A fully equipped gymnasium with access to Sauna, Jacuzzi and massage rooms.I stayed three days in this amazing hotel, it is the ideal place to relax and revitalize the body before starting an adventure trip through the islands of the Philippines. See the video that I made it during my stay at Shangri-La Matcan, Cebu.
