Serengeti Pioneer Camp
Located in the southern centre of the Serengeti, Pioneer Camp is one of the most luxurious Tented Camps in Africa. The latest addition to the Elewana portfolio is the perfect option for those who want to explore Africa with comfort. I visited the camp for 2 nights and I probably will never forget the experience.
Glamping at Serengeti Pioneer Camp is a truly experience. The camp decoration capture the essence of mobile camps in the beginning of 20th century, when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown.
The Camp is located in the Nyareboro Hill and looks out across the expanse of the central Serengeti surrounded by groves of acacia. Is about one hour from Seronera Airstrip which means you can enjoy complete privacy from the crowds.

There are a lot of animals around the camp. I saw thousand of Buffalos, Hyenas and Giraffes. The Camp has twelve stunning tented accommodations! Decorated with beautiful wooden furniture and trunks. There’s also a writing desk and stationery set. Each tent has en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, digital safe, sink with oiled bronze fixtures, rain shower head.
The spacious rooms with two relaxing areas (outside & inside) with classic canvas chairs and the perfect spot to enjoy the fantastic views.
Electric lighting is available in the rooms 24 hours a day, however you can’t charge your devices in the room. There are a central charting area next to the lobby. Wi-Fi is available in public areas.
The big lounge has panoramic views overlooking the endless plains. I can easily spent all day here in the amazing sofas enjoying my drinks (complimentary) with freshly baked muffins on the deck at sunset while watching the animals below. We also had the opportunity to attend a lecture about wildlife, particularly about the lions of the Serengeti. It was very interesting to learn certain curiosities such as knowing distinguish one animal from another.

During the day you can also relax in the plunge pool, big enough for a swim with sweeping views to the Serengeti.
This camp seeks to maximize guests’ exposure to wildlife, this way Dinners at the Pioneer Camp are served by candlelight in the dining room or outside near the bonfire. The food was delicious!
The camp is open to the savannah (no fence) which means you’ll probably hear during the night animal noises just outside the tent, how awesome is that? Staying here isn’t for anyone unwilling to be immersed in the nature. In the evening, Maasai people will lead you back to your tent with a spear in hand: Maasai men are used to deal with an oncoming dangerous animal (don’t worry, it sounds dangerous but it’s not).
The staff was very kind since the moment we arrived, our butler John was very attentive., always concerned to satisfy our needs. Everything was perfect, we truly felt like a fancy nineteenth-century pioneers.
