Raffles Maldives

Raffles Maldives

The luxurious Raffles Maldives Meradhoo is one of the newest resort in the Maldivian paradise. Located in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll in the south of Maldives, one of the most remote and pristine atolls. You can reach the resort via a 1 hour domestic flight from Male International Airport.

After a spectacular landing at Kaadedhoo Domestic airport, we were greeted by Raffles team who escorted us to a private and very comfortable boat for a 15 minutes ride to the resort.

When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by our personal Buttler and resort team with a tradition Maldivian welcome. The Buttler is a dedicated helper that you can call anytime in case you need something, from booking a table at the restaurant or arrange activities… After a brief presentation of the resort we were escorted by a golf cart to our villa.

Our accommodation was the Deluxe Beach Villa with 260 sqm, which had its own large pool, sun loungers, living room, and direct access to the beach to run the shore. The villa’s grounds were huge, I felt I could call all my closest friends that we all could sleep here.

The room was spectacular and I never in so many years of visiting hotels have been in such a colossal Super King bed of 3 meters, it was just incredible. The decoration is modern and elegant and everything looks brand new.

The bathroom is very spacious, you have your walk-in-wardrobe, lavatories, one indoor shower, one outdoor shower, and an incredible bathtub that looks almost like a mini swimming pool. Outside you will find a private terrace with an area for dining, and access to a living room with TV and toilet, this can be converted in a second room, perfect in case you have kids. Don’t need to bring your Yoga Mat, they have everything you need in the villa.

The beach is 10 meters away, and because we never saw our neighbours, it felt like we had a small part of the island all to ourselves. The water is amazing, you can even see corals without snorkeling, you must take your mask and fins and explore the surroundings, here was the best snorkelling spot I’ve been in the Maldives, in 5 minutes we saw many colourful fish species and two sharks, an authentic underwater paradise.

Now let’s talk about the resort… The island is small, you can take a 30 minutes walk to complete the whole island, I like that, is private and you can reach any place within minutes by foot. The beach offers the softest, whitest sand that you can expect in Maldives. The overwater bungalows are located in a separate part of the island, only reach by a 3 minutes boat ride. The hotel has two pools with two bars and three restaurants, Thari, The firepit and Yuzu, an Nikkei inspired restaurant. Our breakfast was always at Thari, from pastries to fresh fruits, every morning was perfect in this open space sea front restaurant.

The resort also have a Spa, gym and activities center where you can do from watersports to diving activities.

We spent 3 incredible nights at Raffles, I wish we have stayed more time, there was so many activities we didn’t do. I hope we can go back again one day to one of the most pristine and luxurious hotels I’ve been. A special thanks to the staff that was beyond helpful and funny!
