Sundy Beach, Princípe

Sundy Beach, Princípe

Distinguished by National Geographic as a “Unique Lodges of the World,” the SUNDY BEACH is the epitome of luxury, comfort and privacy on Prince’s Island. The latest resort on the island has only 15 tent villas secluded among the coconut and banana trees along the beach. My villa, with two independent bedrooms, was huge, beautifully decorated in shades of beige, brown and white . There is clearly a mix between local crafts and the modern design of the furniture. Some nooks and crannies remind me the colonial style of safari tents of the African savannas. The bathroom is divided into two separate compartments and the enormous bathtub is located in the bedroom, placed purposely in front of the huge windows in order to make the bath even more relaxing.

The King Size bed with mosquito net is very comfortable, as is the whole living area, making the space cozy, in a mix of simplicity that fits in perfect harmony with the nature outside.

The Villa also has an outside terrace surrounded by tropical vegetation that leads you to the beach where you can enjoy a swing and sun loungers in front of the sea.

The resort’s infinity pool is shrouded in black basalt and features lounge chairs overlooking the beach. The hotel’s spa was still in the final stages of construction, and one of the villas now serves as a space for relaxation treatments. The hotel offers a welcome 15-minute massage to help leaving the stress behind. This was the third hotel I’ve been where they offer welcome massages, a treat that makes all the difference.

The restaurant may be most beautiful area of the lodge. Inspired and remembering the shape of a fish, it was built according to an Indonesian technique, and all its bambo, as well as the laborers came from Asia to the small island of the Prince to build it. It is naturally elegant and exotic. Breakfast is divine, with a lot of diversity, either in the fruit or bread, as well as in the eggs or natural juices menu. Meals can also be served at the villas, in the pool restaurant or even on the beach with your feet in the sand and under the starry sky and listening the sound of the waves. Last but not least the kindness and commitment of all the workers who make me feel at home, always with a smile and with an interesting and educational conversation to exchange with me. Thank you honestly every moment, without them, the experience would not be complete and memorable.
